Are diamonds forever?

“Can you explain this dream to me? There was a man with a white robe, he had a stick in his hand that was curved, his eyes where like diamonds and he said I am the Good shepherd who lays his life down for his sheep”. As my mouth hung wide open like a cartoon character, I stood amazed at this missionary to Iraq. She retold me stories of how they would come upon unreached people groups and how God had shown himself to many in that village just like the beginning story.

Are diamonds forever? No, but Christ is forever. It’s mind boggling to think that Christ could have used anything in that dream. He chose diamonds, something that man clearly sees as pure and valuable. Christ is forever but he wanted this people group to know the purity of his deity and his sacrificial nature as well. Eyes are said to represent the core and soul of the individual. Christ not only represents purity, He is it. Diamonds don’t even come close to representing the purity of his nature but Christ in his grace chose to use something that man could understand. What grace from a savior, He chooses to use things that fall short of him yet speak to our minds. Lets not forget, as we seek to exalt Christ in this culture, whether a diamond, or us He chooses to use this creation but is not limited to it.
