This is a good word from Matt man. I think what he didn’t highlight though (maybe he did, it was a short clip) was the fact that many times we Christians attempt to make a counter-_____ So we have Christian gyms, or Christian schools, or Christian basketball camps, or Christian (you name it). Instead of infiltrating and transforming what is already there. I think the the latter is much more difficult as it takes more time, effort, energy, and dependency to transform, than it does to just start our own things. It is funny that Paul as a missionary never attempted to set up a contra-group. He preached the Gospel and those who had been born again were set back into their same context and by doing this they turned Rome and its paganism on its head.
Listen to Matt Chandler’s podcast on thevillagechurch.net- The Great Cause part 4. He definitely goes into how The Village is setup as an incarnational (not sure if I used the right word) ministry and how we do not have a gym or a coffee shop so our members will infiltrate their gym or a Starbucks they go to frequently so we can be in the world (not of the world) and spread the Word that way.
