“You see Christ more clearly when you embrace what God has put into individual cultures. You don’t have to become someone you’re not to relate outside of your cultural norm; the focus is seeing Christ as clearly as possible.”

Elizabeth’s Iranian father married her Cajun mother when they met in college in Texas, so she understands what it’s like to grow up in the midst of diversity. For Elizabeth, who had rice and koresh in her school lunch rather than a pudding pack, accepting others from differing cultural backgrounds came pretty naturally.

She grew up in a private, suburban school but in college, she began to do inner city and prison ministry. She found that due to her own mixed heritage, she felt incredibly comfortable in relating to people from different backgrounds. Ironically, her own family did not share her love for diversity. Despite the fact that her father’s family knew what it meant to be transplanted into a different culture—from Iran to the United States—they remained fairly prejudiced against those who didn’t sound, look, or act the way they did.

Not Elizabeth though. She continued to pursue relationships with whoever was willing, and today her passion for Christ has led her outside the boundaries of her own culture. Today Elizabeth works for ReachLife, a ministry that sees music as a tool to have a platform for the gospel that goes beyond cultural limitations. Elizabeth, and ReachLife, are passionate about the body of Christ being spurred on to fulfill the Great Commission, making world-changing disciples. With youth leaders in place around the nation, and youth with their ears to our music, ReachLife provides bible based curriculum delivered in a multimedia platform.
