Last words

As I was reading about modern day martyrs I stumble upon the last words of a 26-year-old sister of the faith. Fatima Al-Mutairi professed her faith to her family in Saudi Arabia. Fatima’s family then locked her in her room, as she awaited death by the hands them, she penned these last words, of which I chose the last section.

“…As to my last words, I pray to the Lord of the worlds
Jesus the Messiah, the Light of Clear Guidance
That He change notions, and set the scales of justice aright
And that He spread Love among you, Oh Muslims”

Whether we see the outcome of her life take effect or not this is the type of Christ exaltation that revolutionizes societies. In reading articles and many stories like this, I pray that we do not take lightly what it means to exalt Christ in this culture. Fatima knew death would come if she chose to exalt the name of Christ in her situation. Since we have nothing to lose literally and eternally, why do we tend to live as if we do? I pray that our freedom and resources make us more relentless to where the lives of Fatima are not lived and lost in vain.

  1. Stories like this spur me on to the reality that i should be doing more with what God has given me by living in America.

  2. What are we afraid of? I read stories like this and wonder why someone in a more tense situation is more bold than someone in a more free situation (myself) very convicting and exhorting at the same time.

  3. I cant help wonder why God allows American Christians, which includes myself, to be free of situations of such magnitude.

  4. I bet that was a huge decision for Fatima. I am convicted because I pray about which class i should take for my career and not for strength to exalt Christ in the face of possible death.

  5. She is a straight gangsta. I am around dudes who are willing to kill and die over nothing. Here is one who took death so the one and only Lord Jesus would be magnified. The realest G for the Lord.
