Obamanation…Obama’s nation

With the first day of work behind our new president and the buzz of the historic day dying down, reality will set in over the next days, weeks and years.

Obama’s message of hope and unity sparked all types of people from Asia to America, rising to top in twinkle of and eye. Between the craze over his message and what this meant for a nation historically from so many vantage points one is prone to think. This is Obama’s nation or the change that will happen will prove to be an “Obamanation”.

Cheesy I know but truth is this, the power over a country that has had the biggest gun for so long can go to a man’s head. Governing in such a way that absolute power could corrupt him absolutely. Sure he has checks and balances but he has never had the attention and acclaim this big, hope instilled in him as if he were the Messiah in such a way and expectations on him seeming so supernatural.

When he lays his head on his pillow at night and nobody knows the thoughts of his soul but him and God I pray he recognizes during the duration of his presidency that this nation is not his and that he keeps himself from thinking he had anything to do with his rise to power. He and all must recognize that…”the Most High is ruler over the kingdoms of men, and He gives it to anyone He wishes. ” (Dan 4:25).

  1. True and Obama might be my president in America but he is surely not my leader. I hope everything goes well for him and everyone in America.

  2. Amen! The lure of power has corrupted the worlds most humble and well-intentioned people. I pray Obama doesn’t fall to the temptation.

The truth in America is that our system of checks and balances has gaping holes. A Senate shift here, a judge appointment there and you can puppet this country like Geppetto. Not to mention he has the favor of the fourth branch of government, the media. Come what may the Lord God is sovereign. Whether Obama soars or sinks he can only do what God allows.

May God’s children continue to be salt and light, lifting up the name of God until He returns.

  3. I’m a conservative myself but I think that Obama definitely has a lot of potential to be a great leader. I just want to remind everyone that he hasn’t been proven a great leader just yet. He’s talked the talk but he still needs to walk the walk. “Faith with out works is dead” just as speeches, rallies and celebrations without real change are meaningless. I pray that he lives up to the hype.

  4. It is so important that we remember, as things can rise and fall around us, that God is still strong and active in our world. I pray for our president and that God will grant him wisdom as he seeks it. It is a great burden to bear the weight of a nation. No man can, but God alone. Right now things don’t look good for many and we are looking for answers. Most importantly, I am encouraged by God’s words to us, “Some may trust in horses (governments and strong economies) and some may trust in chariots (wars against oppressors to strengthen the peace) , but we will trust in the Name of the Lord Our God.”
